This course provides an overview of the debate between standard neoclassical school and non-conventional school on the East Asian economic development from theoretical, historical and policy perspectives.  Students are not expected to be familiar with quantitative analyses in economics.  Figures and simple arithmetic calculation, however, will be used in the course. 

This course consists of lecture-based instruction followed by guided discussion, readings as homework, student presentation, essay (total 3,000 words), and a comprehensive final exam (150 minutes 3 questions).
